CHANDIGARH: From telegraphic communication between master architect, Le Corbusier,
Jawaharlal Nehru and other officials in the 1950s to original building plans, drawings, lithographs and furniture pieces - Government Museum and Art Gallery in Sector 10 has got 344 items related to Chandigarh's heritage. Among its 120 pieces of furniture are red judges' chairs and black courtroom chairs.
These object are displayed at Chandigarh Architecture Museum, which is located on the premises of Government Museum and Art Gallery.
Museum authorities have included these items in their exhaustive inventory sent to UT urban planning department. Architecture museum's officer-incharge, Dr P C Sharma, said, "Heritage furniture like chairs, tables, stools, central tables and artist's desks have been displayed and some are being used by our staff members.''
He added, "We have rare maps, plans of Open Hand monument, secretariat building and models of governor's house and Sukhna Lake." Some rare office stools are also there, which are valued at lakhs or rupees in the international market.
