CHANDIGARH: After two long years, a sensational murder of a 65-year-old man at Sector 30 here in April 2004 was solved with the arrest of two youth on Tuesday. Another accused in the case had deceased about eight months ago.
The UT police identified the accused as Kittu, a newspaper hawker, and his friend Kaka. The deceased accused was identified as Anand.

While Kittu was arrested from Kharar near here, Kaka was nabbed from his residence in Bapu Dham.
Police said the victim, Hari Singh, a newspaper hawker himself, was strangled to death by Kaka and Anand with Kittu standing guard in front of the victim's house on the fateful night of 19 April 2004.
Hari Singh was found dead by his brother-in-law Mohinder Singh the next day and a case was registered with the Industrial Area police.
The blind murder had remained unresolved for two years and after the formation of the Special Crime Investigation Cell of the UT police in December last year, the case was transferred to the new cell.
When the Cell officers called the suspects Kittu and Kaka for questioning, they had been elusive and avoided interrogation on the pretext that they had already been questioned in the case.
However, police brought the two for questioning and during intensive interrogation the crime was unravelled. Police said Kittu had taken Hari Singh on the night of the murder to a function where the latter was honoured as the best hawker.
But earlier, Kittu had learnt that Hari Singh's son Kulwant Singh would be away at his in-laws' place in Patiala that night and had hatched a conspiracy with his two friends, Kaka and Anand, to rob Hari Singh the same night.
