Municipal Corporation starts construction of Rs 2 crore community centre at Maloya village

The engineering wing of the Chandigarh Municipal Corporation has finally started the construction of community centre in Maloya village. It was long pending project of the civic body authority which was hanging fire due to clearance of finance by the accounts department.

CHANDIGARH : The engineering wing of the Chandigarh Municipal Corporation has finally started the construction of community centre in Maloya village. It was long pending project of the civic body authority which was hanging fire due to clearance of finance by the accounts department.
According to information, the community centre will be constructed at an approximate cost of Rs 2 crore.

The project will come up in the area of 11321 square feet with facilities of entrance lobby, office, toilets, guard room, ladies and gents toilets, hall, dinning hall, kitchen, store, bridal room, dormitory, indoor games, library etc.
Area municipal councillor Poonam Sharma and senior officials of MC's engineering department were present at the site while kicking-off the project. While interacting with media, Poonam Sharma said that the project will be completed within timeframe of one year to provide facility to the locals.
Construction of community centre for organising marriage and other functions was the basic demand of the locals, as they have to go to the marriage palaces, situated at the outskirts area of the city, which is very costly also. Therefore, few days back villager of the area met to the senior officials of the MC also in this regard.
