Muktsar MLA condemns lawyers' strike

<div class="section1"><div class="Normal">MUKTSAR: While the indefinite strike of lawyers of the district in protest against registration of attempt to murder case against an advocate and his kin entered in its second week on Friday, some political as well as social personalities of the area have started openly condemning it. <br /><br />In a press conference called here in this regard, the local MLA Sukhdarshan Singh Marahar termed the strike as an irresponsible act of the lawyers.He said that the lawyers should see reason and not resort to pressure tactics to shelter one of their colleagues accused of firing at a brick kiln owner. <br /><br />On the other hand the protest spread to other districts of the area. The advocates of Faridkot observed one day strike on Friday in support of the Muktsar lawyers.<br /><br />Last week an advocate Amrinder Singh Sidhu, his father Harbans Singh Sidhu and brother Amrik Singh Sidhu who is posted as block development officer at Malout had allegedly shot at a brick kiln owner and his employees when the latter had come to the formers’ residence to ask for payment of bricks. One person was seriously injured in the attack. A case under section 307 of the IPC (attempt to murder) was registered against the advocate, his brother and father.<br /><br />Since then the advocates of the district are on war path demanding registration of counter case against the brick kiln owner and his men for criminal trespass into the advocate’s house.<br /><br /><formid=367815></formid=367815></div> </div>
