MP accounts for 69% farm fires, Punjab stays low
Bathinda: Madhya Pradesh (MP) has emerged as the country's biggest contributor to crop residue burning, accounting for over 69% of all cases in the current wheat harvesting season. In contrast, Punjab and Haryana reported significantly lower numbers, with Punjab recording 34 cases on Friday.On Friday alone, MP recorded 1,363 farm fires, pushing its total to 26,507 out of a nationwide total of 38,274. Uttar Pradesh followed with 779 cases, bringing its count past 11,000. According to Consortium for Research on Agroecosystem Monitoring and Modeling from Space, MP has dominated stubble burning figures for the last five years.
