Movement of vehicles in UT restricted by traffic police

Chandigarh: To ease traffic during the Republic Day function at Parade Ground, Sector 17, the UT traffic police have restricted the movement of vehicles around the venue, from 6.30am onwards on Friday. Chandigarh traffic police officials said the stretches from the roundabout of Sector 16/17/22/23 to Gurdial Singh petrol pump, Sector 22-A on Udyog Path, from Old District Court, Sector 17 to Shivalik Hotel on the backside of Parade Ground, Sector 17, and from Lyon’s restaurant light point near the MC office to Parade Ground shall remain closed and the public has been advised to take alternate roads.No general parking shall be allowed outside shops in Sector 22A market from 6.30am onwards till the function concludes. The police have requested people not to bring any objectionable articles such as match box, knife, cigarette, weapon, liquor, inflammable items, electronic devices, black flag, banners or any posters, etc.The traffic movement will also be diverted around Punjab Raj Bhawan for “At Home” function on Republic Day. Invitees are requested to reach the Punjab Raj Bhawan from sector 5/6/7/8 chowk on Vigyan path as a one-way traffic system will be implemented in front of Punjab Raj Bhawan.
