Mohali police website as good as dead
MOHALI: The face of the
For instance, a link under ‘About Us,’ Modernization in which Women’s Cell, Public Awareness, and Safe Drive are showing a missing error. Further, the Police Control Room link also not working. RTI, followed by achievements of the police are showing blank pages. The website — which took more than a year to develop — was paralyzed within a few months of its launch. On the other hand, if you see the websites of Chandigarh Police and Panchkula Police, they are providing accurate details, and many advanced features. A senior official of Mohali Police told TOI: “It is true that some links on the website are not working. We are working on them, and it will be made available in the next few days.”
The website was launched for the purpose of resolving issues of residents in an effortless way, but all vital links of the website — through which residents can register their complaints while getting instant access to details of their complaints — are showing the ‘missing’ error. The special space given to the topic of ‘Say No To drugs’ was also found dead, including links of Recent Activities, and What’s New. What’s more, even the major link ‘Home’ was found lifeless. Further, if you want to subscribe to the monthly newsletter by filling in your email ID, you cannot do it, as that link was also found unresponsive. The column showing ‘Recent Activities’ about transfers, crime detection, newsletters, and even the Search box is dead.
However, many police officials are still unaware about the website, which interestingly points to a serious communication failure within Mohali Police. One senior police official tried to clear the air: “Most of the staff are not experts in using computers or Internet. The police must hold special computer classes for cops to make them computer savvy.” SSP Kuldeep Singh Chahal said: “The problem of missing links will be resolved, and I will put officials on duty to look into the matter.”

Mohali police
department www.sasnagarpolice.in has become pock-marked, as most of the links on the website are not working since the inception of its launch, back in August 2014. Remarkably, some police officers in the department are still not aware about the use of internet and the website’s existence. From the very inception of the site, important links — useful for residents, like downloading FIR orRTI
information, tenant form, firearms form, and passport verification are not working. The website was launched for the purpose of resolving issues of residents in an effortless way, but all vital links of the website — through which residents can register their complaints while getting instant access to details of their complaints — are showing the ‘missing’ error.
