MOHALI: A 30-year-old nurse at a private hospital in Sector 62 was thrashed to death near Sector 68 on Saturday night.
Vijay Kumar, the father of Arun Bhardwaj, the victim, said his son came home from work and around 9.30 PM, one of his colleagues called him.
“He told me to send Arun to the hospital for some work. Arun left in his car.

Around 10.15pm, when I reached near the sabzi mandi ground in Sector 68 while I was taking a walk after dinner, I saw some youths fighting. When I went closer, I found five miscreants thrashing my son,” he alleged.
Kumar said one of them was saying that “Kamal Grewal will not leave him alive and teach him a lesson for talking in a rude manner with them.” Arun was taken to the Sector 62 hospital, where doctors declared him brought dead Kumar said old enmity was the reason behind the murder as his son had told him two days ago that one Kamal Grewal had been disturbing him while he had been taking his walks in a park.
Inspector Rajnish Chaudhary, station house officer, Phase VIII, said, “He was attacked on his neck and eye. He died on the spot. We are scrutinising CCTV footage from near the crime site.” Deep Kamal, DSP, City II, said “We have rounded up some miscreants and the case will be cracked soon. The victim is survived by his wife and a two-month-old son.
A case under Sections 302 (punishment for murder), 506 (punishment for criminal intimidation),148 (rioting, armed with deadly weapon) and 149 (every member of unlawful assembly guilty of offence committed in prosecution of common object) of the IPC was registered at the Phase VIII police station.
