Medicinal plant growers, ayurveda manufacturers exchange ideas
Chandigarh:To strengthen medicinal plant growers, the Haryana State Medicinal Plants Board under Ayush department convened a joint meeting of farmers and ayurvedic medicine manufacturers on Tuesday in Panchkula. This gathering aimed to tackle challenges faced by Haryana's 4,000 medicinal plant cultivators, who often struggle to secure fair prices due to lack of marketing and selling avenues. The event saw the participation of 30 farmers and 20 ayurvedic medicine manufacturers. When farmers voiced concerns about the lack of proper markets and reasonable prices, manufacturers emphasised on the importance of enhancing the quality of raw material through improved drying, storage, and primary processing techniques. These measures, they suggested, would enable manufacturers to procure directly from farmers, ensuring better returns.Dr Dilip Mishra, state licensing authority from Ayush department, was also present.Manufacturers were advised to prepare an online portal on which farmers would be able to register themselves and enter the details of their medicinal plants' raw material. The portal will help manufacturers purchase directly from farmers. At the event, Haryana director general (ayush) Sanjeev Verma informed farmers about schemes offered by the Centre for financial assistance to them. He added such meetings would also be held in future too, so that the gap between farmers and manufacturers could be bridged.MSID:: 117029484 413 |
