CHANDIGARH: High drama was witnessed at Sector 15 on Friday afternoon when the son of Chandigarh mayor fled after allegedly hitting his car with another that was being driven by the wife of a city-based businessman who was a relative of a BJP MLA of Ambala City.
The woman, Vanishka Goyal, informed the police about the hit-and-run, but later both parties struck a compromise.
According to sources, the incident took place at around 1.30pm near DAV school. The Toyota Corolla of mayor
Poonam Sharma being driven by her son and a Hyundai Eon collided with each other. Vanishka was the wife of Punit Goyal, whose cousin Ashim Goyal was an MLA.
Vanishka suffered minor injuries and her car was damaged. The mayor's son escaped but his car's registration number was noted down and the vehicle traced.
When the complainant approached the police to know the status of the case, it was revealed that the vehicle belonged to the mayor, a resident of Sector 21. Sources said the police did not seize the vehicle till 6 pm. In the evening, both the parties reached a compromise. A daily diary report (DDR) was lodged at Sector 11 police station.
