Chandigarh: The mathematics exam on Monday left Class XII students stressed with the level of examination stated to be much higher than what was expected. Most of the students found the question paper difficult and lengthy. Experts too shared similar views.
The paper was available in three sets. Paper was quite lengthy and students felt shortage of time to attempt all the questions.

Students were given options in three to four questions which had one easy and one difficult optional question.
The questions on determinations and matrices were easier but unlike last year, they had to make equations and then solve the question. Students said the paper was totally from syllabus but the questions were not word-to-word or copied from NCERT books.
Students were baffled the most in the probability questions, because they were asked in a tricky manner.
"The questions were based on the concepts from NCERT but they were asked indirectly. The paper was extremely lengthy. I distributed the questions according to the time given to us but still I left a few of them," said Shina, a student of Government Model Senior Secondary School, Sector 19.
Deepak of Jawahar Navodaya Vidyalaya said, "The question paper was average. It was easy for those whose concepts were clear and not fully dependent on the NCERT books."

Khusbu Sharma, a student from Government Model Senior Secondary School, Sector 19, said, "The question paper was neither easy nor tough. It was lengthy though." Students found the paper easier than the last year question paper. But this year, the pattern was more complex than the sample papers.
Shivam, a student of Jawahar Navodaya Vidyalaya, said, "The difficult level was fine but it was very lengthy. Due to the limited time, I was unable to attend my 14 marks paper. I knew the questions but they were just left, since the time got over."
Anil Verma, a mathematics expert from the city, said, "The question paper was all right for students who had prepared for the competitive exams as well apart from fully depending upon NCERT and numericals taught in class. Almost 70% paper was from subject text book while the rest was covered from sample papers and guides."
