Massive landslide strikes Manikaran-Barshaini link road in Kullu

Kullu: Commuters had a narrow escape when a massive landslide struck the Manikaran-Barshaini village link road at Ghatigarh in the Parvati valley of Kullu district on Tuesday.The landslide blocked the road, resulting in a traffic jam on the Manikaran and Barshaini side. Many tourists, who were heading for Barshaini and other nearby villages, returned from Ghatigarh – a landslide-prone spot – to Manikaran and Kasol as the road remained blocked.An official said work on removing the debris from the road had started.It may be mentioned that frequent landslides and shooting stone incidents occurred at Ghatigarh for the last many months.MSID:: 128753292 413 |
