Mardana society president booked

FEROZEPUR: The Ferozepur police havebooked International Bhai Mardana Kirtan Darbar Society president Harpal SinghBhullar and his accomplice Sheetal Singh for furnishing wrong information toprocure a forged ration card for Sheetal.Bhullar allegedly arrangedfor the forged ration card by using his influence to get Sheetal''s daughtermarried to a Canada-based NRI, for which he was paid handsomely by Sheetal.The ration card was needed to show Sheetal''s daughter Mandeep Kaur,who happened to be elder to her would-be husband Gagandeep Garry, as two yearsyounger.Pritam Singh, a resident of Ferozepur city, had complainedto the ADGP (crime) that Bhullar had managed to get a forged rationcard.On the directions of the ADGP, an inquiry was conducted by theDSP (detective), which found that Sheetal Singh, son of Gurbachan Singh, aresident of Chabra village under Aurd police station in Nawanshahr district,already possessed a ration card (number 45487). This card had beenissued to him by the district food and supplies controller,Nawanshahr.The DSP (detective), following a detailed investigation,had forwarded the case to the additional district attorney for legal opinion andapproval.Sources said the marriage of Mandeep Kaur and GagandeepGarry was solemnised at Gurdwara Ramgarhia in Bhullar''spresence.Subsequently, a certificate from the registrar of marriageswas obtained on March 21. Incidentally, the date of issuance of theforged ration card is also March 21.The police said that Sheetal hadapplied for the ration card at Ferozepur by projecting Buta Singh, a resident ofAku Maste Ke village in Ferozepur district, as Sheetal Singh. He also gave awrong address: C/o Harpal Singh Bhullar, Baghdadi Gate, Ferozepur.In this ration card (number 30611), not only has Buta Singh''sphotograph replaced Sheetal''s, the age of Sheetal and his family members hasalso been wrongly mentioned. Sheetal was shown as 60 years of age,the age of his wife Mohinder Kaur was shown to be 60, his daughter MandeepKaur''s age was shown as 20 and son Davinder Singh''s age as 22.In theoriginal ration card, their age was 45, 40, 22 and 20,respectively.Denying that he had anything to do with the forgedration card, Bhullar claimed that it was a conspiracy by his opponents to malignhim.Bhullar and Sheetal have been booked under sections 465, 471,120-B, IPC.
