CHANDIGARH: The Manjit-Akshaya group managed to win four of the five crucial posts in the Panjab University Teachers Association (PUTA) elections that were held on the university campus on Thursday. Akshaya Kumar, a senior faculty member in the English department, was elected the president, with a margin of 61 votes. He got 248 votes and was followed by K Tankeshwar 187 votes.
Posts of secretary, joint secretary and treasurer also went to the Manjit-Akshaya group. Mohammad Khalid of evening studies was elected secretary, Kitty Sidhu of the dental sciences department was elected joint secretary, while Shivani Sharma of philosophy department won treasurer’s post.
