CHANDIGARH: A real estate agent, who had accused Punjab Police DSP Raka Gira of demanding a bribe of Rs 1 lakh from him for ensuring a clean chit in a criminal case registered against him, was arrested for fraudulently possessing a sports utility vehicle (SUV) of his friend on Saturday.
K K Malhotra, a resident of Mullanpur, was sent to judicial custody for 14 days.
In July 2011, Gira was arrested on the complaint of Malhotra.
Police sources said Parminder Singh, who is a friend of Malhotra, lodged a complaint, alleging the agent had taken his car from his house a few months back and refused to return it.
Sub-inspector (S-I) Rohit Kumar from Sector 39 police station said Malhotra claimed that there was a financial dispute between him and Parminder but probe established that Malhotra fraudulently possessed the SUV. The vehicle has
been recovered from his possession.
