Man tries to kill parents, cousin, maid; arrested

Chandigarh: In an attempt to murder case, a man from Sector 44 allegedly attacked his parents, cousin, and maid on Sunday. The accused, Punit Mahajan, was arrested after his father filed a police complaint. The Sector 34 police registered a case against him and arrested him, later presenting him in court where he was sent to judicial custody.In his complaint, Satish Mahajan, a resident of Sector 44, alleged that his son, Punit, attacked his mother, Saroj, with a glass jug, hitting her on the head. Saroj fell to the ground, and in an attempt to intervene, Satish, his cousin Atul, and the maid Pushpa were also attacked. Punit picked up a knife and assaulted Saroj and Satish, and also beat up Pushpa and Atul, he alleged.During the attack, the mother suffered a head injury after being struck with a glass jug, and the father was stabbed three to four times. As per the family, the accused has anger issues. The injured were rushed to GMCH-32 for medical treatment, and the police were notified. Shortly after, the police arrested Punit. He was booked under Section 109 of BNS in Sector 34 police station. Notably, Punit holds a degree in computer science engineering. Police received a PCR call and rushed to the spot. The victims were found soaked in blood, while the accused was still at the house. All the injured were rushed to Government Medical College and Hospital, Sector 32 (GMCH-32), where they are undergoing treatment.
