Man jailed for posting a spoof video of dera follower
CHANDIGARH: Medical representative Satish Kumar had never imagined that he would land up in jail in Karnal for posting a video spoof on a dera follower trying to rescue their chief Gurmeet Ram Rahim Singh from the prison.
Kumar was taken into preventive custody on Wednesday for causing threat to peace of the area by uploading the spoof video. Police said he was released on bail and has been directed not to leave the city without intimation.
For the past few days, an edited spoof video had gone viral on social media in which a person with an axe in his hand is seen riding a donkey and shouting that he would get Gurmeet released from the Sunaria jail in Rohtak.

In the video, the man keeps saying: “Pitaji fikar na karo main takua hath wich lai ke aa riha’n, tuhanu chhuda ke lijaaunga jail wichon. (Don’t worry Pitaji, I am coming with a battle axe in my hand to set you free from the jail).”
Karnal SHO Rajbir Singh said, “Satish was taken into custody following the inputs by the cybercrime control cell at Haryana Police headquarters in Panchkula.”
“They had detected that in Haryana the video was allegedly uploaded by Satish. We have sent his handset and video for forensic examination. If it is established that he has produced and uploaded the video, further action under the IT Act will be taken,” he said.
“We are going through a critical situation and don’t want disturbance again. Even if he (dera chief) is in custody, you never how the people will react. It can again lead to a law and order problem. This action is also a deterrent for those who are in the habit of circulating defamatory videos,” said a senior officer at Haryana police headquarters.
