Man held for killing 19-year-old niece in Yamunanagar

YAMUNANAGAR: A 19-year-old girl was allegedly killed by her uncle, as he failed to have a sexual relationship with her in Haryana's Yamunanagar district.

The Yamunanagar police have arrested an accused identified as Bhagwan Dass alias Rupesh of Jagadhri. The accused was produced before the district court in Jagadhri, which sent him to a two-day police remand.

On May 9, the dead body of an unknown girl with injury marks on her neck was found lying in an agriculture field near a college on Jagadhri-Buria road

A case was registered against unknown person under Section 302 (murder) of the Indian Penal Code (IPC) at Jagadhri City police station.

Jagadhri City SHO inspector Narendra Rana said, “Body of girl, earlier unidentified, was kept at hospital mortuary for identification and post-mortem. The body was identified by the girl’s mother, who said that her uncle had evil eyes on her daughter.”

“Accused Bhagwan Dass told police that his wife had left him a long time ago. He further said that he had evil eyes on his niece. When the girl was alone at her house on May 9, he tried to have a sexual relationship with her. However, when he failed to do so, the accused stabbed the girl with a knife in a fit of anger,” said the SHO.
