Man arrested for stealing gold jewels

Chandigarh: UT police have arrested a man for allegedly stealing gold ornaments from his mother-in-law’s house in New Indira colony, Manimajra. Police claimed to have recovered the stolen jewellery from the possession of the accused. The local court has sent the accused to judicial custody. Maya Devi, a resident of New Indira colony, claimed that she works as a domestic help in houses. On returning home one day, she noticed that Vikas, her son-in-law was coming out of his house with her jewellery bag, she alleged, adding that When she tried to stop him, he ran away with the bag. She reported that Vikas stole the bag containing two gold mangalsutras, a pair of gold earrings, a gold ring and silver jewellery after breaking the lock of the trunk in her house.Thieves steal laptop, cashChandigarh: The Sector-11 police have registered a theft case against unidentified persons for stealing laptop, mobile phone and cash after smashing the window pane of a car parked at Sukhna lake. Dr Yoginder Kumar, a senior doctor of the hepatology department, PGI reported that he had gone to Sukhna lake for a walk on November 21 night. When around 11.30pm, he reached his car, he found his bag missing, which contained a laptop with charger, a mobile phone, a smart watch, Rs 1,500 cash, ATM cards and documents. The police have been checking the footage on the CCTV cameras installed near the crime scene.2 snatchers arrested Chandigarh: Two persons have been arrested for allegedly snatching a mobile phone and a wallet from a pedestrian in Sector 52 ten days ago. The police recovered the snatched mobile from the possession of the accused. The police produced the accused before the local court and obtained two-day police remand for further interrogation. Sector-36 police said the accused have been identified as Saurabh, 19, and Sonu, 20, both residents of Kajheri village, Sector-52.Two held for phone theft Chandigarh: Police have arrested two persons for snatching a mobile phone and a purse from a resident of Sector-52. As per complainant Naveen Kumar, he was going to Sector 42 around 5.30 am on November 15; when he reached near the bus stop in Sector 52 , two unidentified persons stopped him forcibly and ran away after snatching his mobile phone and purse that contained Rs 1,000 cash and ATM cards. Naveen then reported the matter to police at 112 with the help of a passerby. On receiving the information, cops from Sector -36 police station reached the spot and recorded Naveen’s statement. During the course of investigation, police arrested both accused from Sector 52. Police said both accused are drug addicts.Biker snatches mobile phone Chandigarh: The UT police booked an unknown person riding on a motorcycle for allegedly snatching a mobile phone from a man at Sector 47 on Friday. In his complaint, Sachin Dahiya of Sector 47 reported that when he was on his way to a park in Sector 47 at 8.30pm, a person on a bike intercepted him on the pretext of asking for an address. When he was telling him the address, the miscreant sped away after snatching his mobile phone from his hand. Sector 31 police reached the spot after being informed and have been checking the footage of CCTV cameras installed near the crime spot.Man booked for snatching chain Panchkula: Police booked an unidentified accused for snatching a gold chain from a woman’s neck in Sector-15 market. Pawan Kumar of Sector-26 said that around 7pm on Friday, he, his wife and friend went to a jeweller in Sector 15. At 7.40pm they reached near their car when an unknown person came and snatched the gold chain from his wife’s neck
