Chandigarh: The UT police have filed a case against a man for allegedly assaulting and manhandling an ASI of Sector 11 police station on Holi. The complainant ASI reached the spot after receiving a call about a brawl in Sector 25, and a person manhandled him and tore his uniform. During the scuffle, the accused also pelted a brick at the windscreen of the official's vehicle and damaged it.
The complainant, Anshuman Chillar, ASI posted at Sector 11 police station, alleged that he went to Sector 25 on a call about a brawl in the house on Holi. As they reached there, they brought both parties to the beat box of Sector 25. Later, a crowd gathered at the beat box and started arguing with the cops.
The accused, Satish alias Golu of Sector 25, allegedly started manhandling the ASI and grabbed him by his collar. The buttons of the ASI's uniform were also broken by the accused. Later, the accused allegedly pushed him onto the govt vehicle and also hit the windscreen of the official vehicle with a brick. The complainant informed the police station, and more cops reached the spot. On the statement of the ASI, Sector 11 police registered a case against the accused Satish under the relevant sections of BNS and arrested him.
In a separate incident on March 13, ASI Suresh Pal, deployed at a PCR van attached to Sector 39 police station, went to Sector 38 to attend a brawl spot, where Jatin Sharma and his wife allegedly manhandled him, and their pet dog also attacked and bit the ASI. The injured ASI was admitted to GMSH-16 for treatment. Later, the ASI filed a complaint at Sector 39 police station against Jatin Sharma and his wife. On his complaint, the 39 police registered a case against unknown persons.
