LUDHIANA: The father of a resident of village Gari Fazal village near Mattewara alleges that police raided his house at 1:30 am on June 21, picked up his son Kulwinder Singh and tortured him.

LUDHIANA: The father of a resident of village Gari Fazal village near Mattewara alleges that police raided his house at 1:30 am on June 21, picked up his son Kulwinder Singh and tortured him.
According to Arshad Singh, Kulwinder was beaten up and tortured by six policemen including the chowki incharge. The inebriated policemen allegedly hung him upside down, thrashed him, and asked him to own up that he had committed theft at the house of a relative.
Arshad says his son was admitted to the civil hospital only next day when several villagers begged for his release.

Kulwinder, who is the only earning member from his large family, is unable to walk after the “torture�.
The Mattewara chowki falls under the Kumkalan police station.
The SHO, Amandeep Kaur is on medical leave, but SP (Detective) Shiv Kumar is learnt to have visited the village and is investigating the incident. However, he refused to say anything about the case as did the police incharge.
