LUDHIANA: Jagroop, a class X student of the government school in Pakhowal village who suffered a brain haemorrhage after being beaten on the head by his Punjabi teacher Jatinder Kaur on July 9 for not attending school, died of cardio-respiratory arrest at Arora Neuro Centre on Friday.
When Jagroop’s sister Gurinder Kaur, who studies in the same school in Class XII, had gone to save her brother from the teacher’s ire, the teacher had not allowed her into the class.
‘‘Even after Jagroop fell unconscious, the teacher had simply looked on in anger, said a sobbing Gurinder.
‘‘None of the teachers came to Jagroop’s aid. It were his classmates, who lifted him and took him to a doctor, she said.
Jagroop’s father Lakhbir Singh said that he would sue Jatinder Kaur.
‘‘I will not let her get away with the matter so easily, he said.
