PANCHKULA: Hinting that not all is well in the Congress camp here, local party leaders have send a strong signal to the high command to field a local leader from the Panchkula assembly seat during the forthcoming Vidhan Sabha polls.
This was decided through a resolution at a meeting attended by all senior local Congress leaders here on Monday. City Congress president RK Kakkar said that they would oppose any outsider for the Panchkula constituency.

Kakkar further said that the party high command should respect the feelings of party leaders from Panchkula.
National coordinator of Youth Congress and former Panchkula MC president Tarun Bhandari reasoned that a local candidate would know more about Panchkula and its residents. We want the party high command to select a candidate from amongst local leaders as it would motivate the party workers, which will result in definite win for the Congress candidate, Bhandari added.
Youth Congress leader Chandvir Hooda, who recently held a massive rally in Panchkula said that they would prefer a local candidate but the high commands decision would be final.
Another Congress leader SK Nayyar said, If the party selects an outsider then we will not lend our support to that candidate. We hope that the party would consider our demand and go for a local candidate.
Some senior leaders, leaders, did not attend the meeting. District Congress president Om Prakash Devinagar said views expressed during the meeting were of the individuals and not the party, adding that the final decision would be taken by the party.
