According to the police, Parvinder was known to Dhappal, a resident of Handesra village in Mohali, an accused in the kidnapping case. Parvinder told the police that he had lent his car to Dhappal in good faith but he misused the car to kidnap the kid.
While Dhappal is still at large, the other kidnapper, identified as Gurpreet Singh of Tasimblee village in Mohali district, was nabbed near Barwala in Panchkula district the same day Vansh was kidnapped.
Gurpreet is admitted to hospital as a bullet had hit him in his right leg during cross-firing. Eight-year-old Vansh was kidnapped on Thursday while returning home from school in Defence Colony of Ambala Cantt.
Police claimed that Vansh’s grandfather had received a ransom call for Rs 80 lakh in return for the minor boy. During the melee that ensued at Barwala, cops managed to rescue Vansh and also recovered an illegal weapon, one live bullet and two empty cartridges along with the vehicle used in the crime.
