MOHALI: Mohali police in collaboration with the Anti-Gangster Task Force (AGTF), captured notorious gangster Malkiat, also known as Maxi, after a short gunfight near the Ghagar Bridge on the Zirakpur-Ambala Highway. Maxi, an associate of foreign-based terrorist Goldy Brar and gangster Goldy Dhillon, was arrested while trying to escape from police custody.
Maxi, an operative of the foreign-based terrorist Goldy Brar and gangster Goldy Dhillon, opened fire on the police in an attempt to escape. The police retaliated in self-defence, injuring him in the left leg. He was taken to the Civil Hospital in Mohali for treatment.
Maxi, a resident of Rodala village in Rajasansi, Amritsar, is a key member of an extortion racket led by Brar and Dhillon. In January 2025, the gang demanded Rs 50 lakh from a property dealer in Mohali.
He has multiple cases of extortion and violations of the Arms Act registered against him. During the operation, authorities recovered a .32 calibre pistol near the Ghagar Bridge in Derra Bassi.
An FIR has been registered, and further investigations are underway.
