CHANDIGARH: The Press Clubs of Lahore and Chandigarh have agreed to share a sister club status and exchange delegations and people-related information. The organisations would work out an arrangement of extending facilities and an institutionalised system of cooperation.
The decision was taken at a meeting of presidents of both the clubs in Lahore recently.
A delegation of Chandigarh based journalists led by president of the Chandigarh Press Club Sarabjit Pandher called on the governing body of the Lahore Press Club last weekend. Both clubs opened their facilities to the members of the sister club, whenever they came visiting.
Led by their president, Arshad Ansari and executive member Zaheer Babar, members of the Lahore Press Club, extended a warm welcome to the Indian delegation. The presidents of the Lahore and Chandigarh Press Club also exchanged mementos on the occasion. The visiting delegation of journalists was taken around the premises of the Lahore Press Club.
Both clubs have agreed to organise an International conference of journalists working in Punjabs on both sides of the border in Chandigarh in the beginning of March this year. This would be the first initiative of its kind since Independence.
