Mohali: A man allegedly stabbed his brother-in-law to death at a traffic light point near a market at Simbal Majra village in Kurali on Monday evening. The accused, Simranjit Singh, is absconding, said Mullanpur DSP Dharamvir Singh. Charanpreet Singh, the victim, allegedly used to ill-treat sister of the accused and leave her at her parents’ house regularly. At 7 pm, Charanpreet went to the local market to buy some groceries. Simranjit, who works as a car driver, reached the spot. After a brief altercation between the two, Simranjit allegedly stabbed him and fled. Charanpreet was rushed to a hospital, where he was declared brought dead. The DSP said that police party has been sent to Simranjit’s village, Paprali, in Ropar district. A case of murder was registered.
