ROHTAK: The Sarv Jatiya Sarv Khap Mahapanchayat on Wednesday held a meeting at Balali, the native village of the famed Phogat sisters, and demanded the arrest of Wrestling Federation of India chief and BJP MP Brij Bhushan Saran Singh, who has been accused by some of the women wrestlers of sexual harassment.

The Sarv Khap also raised Haryana minister Sandeep Singh’s sexual harassment case and sought his arrest.

The meeting was headed by Dadri MLA and Sangwan khap head Sombir Sangwan. Dronacharya awardee Mahavir Phogat was also present in the meeting in which six key decisions were taken in support of the wrestlers.

A 21-member committee was constituted by the Sarv Khap which would mobilise the masses in support of the wrestlers and would remain prepared to honour any call to agitate in form of road blockades or assembling at one place.

The khap and other social organisations were asked to assemble to honour the call as and when wrestlers seek support. The key demands also included making all sports federations free from politicians. The khaps and other pressure groups were asked to generate local support in favour of the women wrestlers and seek more participation in agitations. The core demand included the arrest of Sandeep Singh, who has been accused of harassment by a junior woman coach. Olympic wretlers’ Jantar Mantar protest against Brij Bhushan has found support from farmers unions also.
