Key handlers held, shooters still at large
Mohali: In a significant breakthrough in the sensational murder outside the SSP office complex in Mohali, the police have arrested key handlers and logistical supporters linked to the crime, while the two main shooters are still absconding.Senior superintendent of police (SSP), Mohali, Harmandeep Hans said the arrests were made on the basis of technical surveillance and human intelligence. The accused allegedly provided reconnaissance and logistical support to the shooters before and after the attack.
The arrested accused have been identified as Baltej Singh alias Bunty of Tehna village in Faridkot, and Mangat Singh alias Max of Jalalabad in Fazilka. The police also recovered a black motorcycle (PB-22-D-5444) and a white car (UP-14-CD-6847) that were used by the assailants to execute the murder and flee the crime scene.According to the SSP, CCTV footage analysis revealed that two gunmen arrived at the spot on the motorcycle, opened fire at victim Gurvinder Singh near his parked vehicle, and later changed clothes before escaping in the car. The murder took place on January 28, 2026, in a high-security zone outside the SSP office court complex, raising serious concerns over planning and execution. The SSP said the investigation established that the crime was allegedly masterminded by foreign-based gangster Satinderjit Singh alias Goldy Brar, in connivance with his associates Vicky Singh alias Vicky Sattewala and Ravi Kumar alias Ravi Faridkotia, both believed to be operating from the UK and Dubai. The duo was named in the FIR for planning and facilitating the murder from overseas. The victim's wife, complainant Amardeep Kaur, earlier told police that her husband was receiving threats and specifically expressed fear of Brar's involvement."On the disclosure of the arrested accused, both vehicles used in the crime were recovered. Their role was to assist the shooters with movement, recce, and escape planning," SSP Hans said, adding that the identities of the two main shooters were also established.Police teams are now working to track down the absconding gunmen and other conspirators to fully unravel the transnational criminal network behind the targeted killing.Crime designers prepared proper escape route avoiding toll plazasThe Mohali police said the two accused, Vicky Singh alias Vicky Sattewala based in the UK and Ravi Kumar alias Ravi Faridkotia based in Dubai or Germany, planned the execution of the crime in a very systematic manner, guiding the executors to avoid toll plazas and other CCTV cameras set up at various junctions.Gangsters earlier made 3 attempts to eliminate Gurvinder: SSPSSP Harmandeep Hans said the killers were on Gurvinder's trail for the past few months. Earlier also the shooters had made three attempts to kill Gurvinder, but their bids were foiled by police presence. The police also brought two dreaded gangsters, Harpreet Singh alias Manna and Joker, from jails on production warrants and during their interrogation, the cops got vital leads which led to the arrest of Baltej and Sangat.
