LUDHIANA: Ahead of the festive season, one of the themes that is catching the fancy of kitty parties in the city is the Karwa Chauth theme.
The festival - which is to be celebrated on October 11 - is a ritual of fasting observed for a day by married Hindu women seeking their husband's well-being and prosperity. And ladies, who have their kitty parties due in the last week of September, have chosen this theme.

Talking about the theme, Jasween Kaur, who organised a kitty party, said: "We had our party scheduled for the last week this month. Hence, we chose Karwa Chauth as the theme. It is the upcoming festival and appropriate for our party. Nowadays, we hardly wear suits and such festivals are a way to get dressed traditionally and bring out the Indian beauty in us. All our members wore suits to the party and everyone looked stunning."
Meanwhile, another party, hosted by Anita Arora, had the colour red as its theme. Women in the age group of 40 and above wore elegant red sarees, suits and western apparels. "Red is the colour of love and so is the festival of Karwa Chauth. Hence, it became our theme for the party." shared Anita.
