Jeweller found dead; suicide suspected

Panchkula: A prominent jeweller, Rajat Khanna, who ran a business in Sector 4, was found dead on Wednesday in an alleged case of suicide. The incident has prompted demands from family members for a thorough investigation.

Preliminary information suggests that Khanna had been under financial stress due to loans taken at high interest rates and alleged pressure from financiers. Family members claimed that he was facing continuous harassment and threats, which pushed him to take the extreme step. They also stated that a complaint had been submitted to Panchkula police through their lawyer on May 26 regarding threats to his life.

Police said a purported suicide note has been recovered and is being examined. During initial inquiries, the names of several financiers have surfaced, and their role is under scrutiny.

The body has been sent for postmortem, and police have initiated a detailed investigation to verify all allegations.
