CHANDIGARH: Their visual impairment couldn't prove a hindrance for students from Institute for the Blind, Sector 26, where all students who appeared for Class XII exams of Punjab State Education Board cleared it and scored above 70%.
A total of 14 students gave exams in humanities stream, out of which eight scored above 80%. Yet again, girls topped the chart.

All four scored 80% and grabbed two of the top three positions.
Jasneet Kaur stood first with 87.1% and the second position was taken by Anuj Sharma with 84.4% and Himani Mohindroo grabbed the third position. With 82.2% marks, Parvinder Kaur grabbed the fourth position and Manpreet Kaur stood fifth with 82% marks.
Other students who scored well include Inderjit Singh (81.5%), Mandeep Singh (80.8%), Rohit Kumar (80.8%), Shubham Kumar (79.3%), Dheeraj Kumar (79.1%), Sonam Tobgial (75.5%), Prabhjot Singh (75.1%), Harjeet Singh (74.4%) and Lakhwinder Singh (70.6%). Most of these students belong to Punjab, Himachal Pradesh and Haryana.
The board declared the merit list on Monday and the school's result was declared on Tuesday. This is for the last time that students from the school will appear for PSEB exams as the school got affiliated to Central Board of Secondary Education last year. They would sit for CBSE boards for Class X and XII in March 2016.

Jasneet Kaur, who topped in her school with 87.1% marks, says she owes her success to her parents and teachers. "I cannot believe that I topped in my school. All the credit for this goes to my family and my teachers, who helped me and supported me," she gushes.
Jasneet's father is a realtor and her mother is a government school teacher. "Despite their jobs, they always had the time for me," she added.
Talking about her success mantra, she said, "I feel nothing is impossible in life if we really want to achieve something. We should not surrender to hurdles of life," Kaur smiled.
