INLD flays Saini govt over ‘financial mismanagement’
Chandigarh: Hitting out at the Nayab Singh Saini-led govt in Haryana over "financial mismanagement", the Indian National Lok Dal (INLD) on Tuesday claimed that the ruling dispensation had miserably failed in executing over 300 out of the total 728 people-centric welfare schemes of various departments that were announced in the budget announcements for the year 2025-26.Armed with data obtained from the Online Budget Allocation Monitoring and Analysis System, a portal being run by the finance department, the former finance minister and senior INLD leader Sampat Singh said the data exposed the sincerity of govt towards financial management."It shows either the govt has completely collapsed in planning and execution of such schemes or officials are misleading the chief minister and concerned authorities on the schemes. Otherwise, it puts serious doubts about CM's claims of the state utilising 98% of the allocated budget," said Sampat Singh."I have access to expenditure figures for the budget period extending up to Feb 25, 2026. In the 2025-26 Budget, the govt made a total of 729 announcements. Approximately 300 of these announcements were allocated a total of Rs 7,500 crore; however, as of March 31, 2026, absolutely zero funds were spent on these," he said.To substantiate his allegations, Sampat Singh elaborated upon various figures. He said within the department of agriculture and farmers' welfare, Rs 406.12 crore was allocated for subsidised agricultural infrastructure, yet the actual expenditure remained zero."Similarly, the department of panchayati raj and development failed to spend even a single rupee out of the Rs 890 crore allocated under the State Finance Commission for rural development. Furthermore, funds amounting to Rs 248 crore under the Swachh Bharat Mission and Rs 73 crore for the Karnal Smart City project remained unutilised. The Rs 357-crore fund allocated for strengthening healthcare services and for the National Cancer Prevention Programme was also not utilised," he said."The failure to spend even a single penny on these schemes constitutes gross financial mismanagement on the part of the BJP govt. The BJP says one thing and does another. The govt is merely engaging in event management within the state," the senior leader added.MSID:: 130087732 413 |
