Jalandhar: A man, who was reportedly drunk, strangled his five-year-old daughter to death on Tuesday when she cried while his wife was away at work. ADCP-II Harinder Singh Gill said the accused,
Arvind Kumar, was in his room with his two children and was drunk while his wife, who worked as housemaid, was away at work.
"The girl was pestering him when, in a fit of rage, he strangled her. Their neighbour Hemant rushed the child to a doctor, but she was already dead. Hemant then informed the police and the accused was arrested on Tuesday evening. At that time also, he was in an inebriated state," Gill said. Arvind's wife and neighbours told the police that he was an alcoholic and had no job. He would almost daily beat up his wife and the kids.
