PANIPAT: Union minister for youth affairs and sports Anurag Thakur on Saturday hit out at the opposition unity terming it without "neta (leader), niyat (intent) and niti (policy)".

Referring to the opposition parties that assembled in Patna on Friday, Thakur said the "drama group" had gathered for another stage show in 2024, but it would not make any impact on the BJP's election prospects and Narendra Modi would return to power with over 300 seats.

Thakur was addressing the BJP's 'Gauravshali Bharat Rally' at Panipat.

He also named RJD patriarch Lalu Prasad and TMC chief Mamata Banerjee among the corrupt leaders of the county and termed their alliance with the opposition parties as "thagbandhan".

The Union minister said India had not only become a safe country under the leadership of Prime Minister Narendra Modi, but today the strong leadership and sustainable development works being executed by the Prime Minister had become a pivotal topic of discussion across the globe.

Thakur said: "PM Modi is now among the top world leaders as he has earned praise for the country in the world. Now the entire world is chanting Modi, Modi."

He said under the leadership of PM Modi, India had become the 5th largest economy and the country's reputation had increased globally.

"With the abrogation of article 370, Jammu and Kashmir has been made an integral part of India. Besides, Ram Mandir is being constructed in Ayodhya. The opposition parties should also clear their stand on these issues," he said.

He attacked the opposition unity saying that they were against each other as the Congress had been told by the regional parties to leave their respective states.

Arvind Kejriwal is asking the Congress to leave Delhi and Punjab, Mamata is saying leave Bengal, Nitish Kumar and Lalu Prasad are saying leave Bihar, Akhilesh is saying leave Uttar Pradesh and the DMK is asking the Congress to leave Tamil Nadu, he pointed out. Thakur also accused the previous Congress government in Haryana of corruption in land deals and lauded the BJP government, at the Centre and at the state, for eliminating the corruption in the country.

The Union minister, meanwhile, said in the last 9 years, the Centre had provided various benefits to the people through different schemes.

He said PM Modi had given pucca houses to 3 crore people. Besides, LPG cylinders were given free of cost to poor women. The PM has also given 12 crore toilets and tap water to every household. Free foodgrains have been provided to 80 crore families, Thakur added.
