MOHALI: In the 16th edition of #Ask Captain,
Punjab chief minister Captain Amrinder Singh lauded the efforts of Mohali district, which has become one of the first nine districts in India to achieve 100% target of providing drinking water connections to rural households.
The CM replied to a query by Mohali resident Harman Virk on the Rajpura to Mohali railway line project and informed that according to the new policy of railways, the state government has to provide land as well as bear 50% of the project cost.
This amounts to an expense of nearly Rs 400 crore.
He said as the line has to start from Chandigarh and go to different destinations in Rajasthan, it is an interstate project. Therefore, the ministry of railways has been asked to review the project in this light. He also replied to queries from other parts of the state on issues like paddy season procurement, SYL and agricultural ordinances, among others. During the live session earlier, the CM appealed to people to take the Covid-19 crisis seriously, wear masks, wash hands, observe social distancing and get tested in case of symptoms. Testing and timely treatment is very important, he asserted .
