Immigration firm owner arrested for fraud
Times News NetworkChandigarh: UT Police arrested the owner of an immigration firm from Ludhiana for his alleged involvement in duping several people of crores. Sector 34 Police arrested the accused, Gurinder Singh alias Guri, and brought him to the city on Friday. He had been running the business of immigration along with his associates under various names in Sector 34. In the course of his work, he allegedly duped several people on the pretext of sending them abroad.Gurinder Singh alias Guri is a resident of Ludhiana, Punjab. Chandigarh police registered a case on a complaint by Sukhbir Singh of Sarangpur, Chandigarh, in which he said that Gurinder Singh Guri, Ritu, Ashish Batra, and others of Eagle-I, Advisor, Sector 34, Chandigarh, were involved in financial fraud of Rs 1,78,82,628. However, the EOW investigation revealed actual transactions of Rs 2,02,000 related to the complainant.In his disclosure statement, Gurinder said that he had been operating the immigration businesses under various names: Eagle-I Advisor, Jubilee Overseas, Chandigarh Visa Consultant, The Red Stone, Immi Group, and a centre in Sector 34, Chandigarh, since 2019. He admitted to deceiving numerous people through false promises of study, work, and tourist visas. The investigation revealed acquisition of properties in Punjab using funds secured through fraudulent means. Two vehicles, a BMW and a Thar, were seized from his Ludhiana residence by the police.Chandigarh and Punjab Police had registered 13 FIRs of cheating against Gurinder Singh.
