Gurgaon: A probe into the

illegal casino

run by suspended head constable Paramjeet Singh Ahalawat revealed the alleged role of two more policemen in its operation. The two were suspended on Thursday, and a departmental inquiry was initiated against them. Sources privy to the investigation said jailed gangster Binder Gujjar’s brother Manoj Gujjar was also one of the investors of the casino.

Ahalawat was suspended for his purported role in the alleged fake encounter of slain gangster Gadoli. Manoj, who has been absconding, is also an accused in the Gadoli case.

Police, however, denied that Manoj was an investor of the illegal casino that was busted on Thursday. Ahalawat, according to sources, had told investigators that Gujjar was one of the patrons and investors of the casino. Ahalawat, sources said, denied role of the two cops who were suspended.

The probe revealed that the casino had a humble start near Gurgaon bus stand around four months ago, but soon it was shifted to New Colony area, then to Sushant Lok area and finally to South City-1 on October 8.

“The investors made a huge progress in terms of clientele and money. Ahalawat has denied the role of two cops, but we suspect that more cop were hand in glove with the investors of the casino. Two cops — assistant sub inspector Jitender Singh and head constable Dharmender Singh — were suspended on Friday. They were transferred to police lines from the crime unit-2 of the Gurgaon police. A departmental inquiry has been initiated against the duo,” said an investigating officer.

Police commissioner Sandeep Khirwar said the two suspended policemen had been on the investigators’ scanner ever since the casino was busted. “We cannot reveal any further details as it may hamper the investigation,” Khirwar said.

Sources also said the investigators suspected the involvement of three more cops, now posted in the crime unit-2 and the crime unit in Sector 31. Ahalawat, sources said, used to frequent the office of crime unit-2 during the night, and was very friendly with the policemen in the unit. Police, however, have not confirmed this yet.

Ahalawat ran the casino along with his Gurgaon-based partners Kapil Batra, Vinay alias Vinni and casino manager Jitender alias Jeetu.

“We are interrogating Ahalawat. He will be produced in court on Saturday,” said Anil Yadav, ACP, Sadar.
