Hry SGST collection jumps ₹7,918cr in FY 2025-26
Chandigarh: Haryana has registered a robust 22% increase in gross SGST (state goods and services tax) collection in the current financial year 2025–26 over the preceding year. This has been shown in the latest data released by the Union ministry of finance.A spokesperson for the department of excise & taxation said on Sunday that Haryana's gross SGST collection (post-settlement) for the current financial year reached Rs 44,460 crore, which was Rs 7,918 crore more than the collection up to Feb in the last financial year. This registered a growth rate of 22%, which was the highest among all states & Union Territories in the country.
As per the data released by the finance ministry, gross SGST collection of all states & Union Territories grew at a national average of 6% in the current financial year. In the month of Feb, Haryana's gross SGST growth rate continued to be high, with 23% growth compared to the same month in the last financial year. Even in the months after GST rate rationalisation done by the GST Council in Sept 2025, Haryana continued to show steady growth in SGST collections, which not only reflected efficient tax administration but also the healthy state of the economy of the state.Excise & taxation commissioner Vinay Pratap Singh said Haryana had a total of 6,22,478 GST taxpayers, and GST Suvidha Kendras were opened in all districts of the state to facilitate registration under GST law. The commissioner added that the state registered robust GST growth due to improved tax compliance, mainly owing to several reforms done over the past few years in the GST regime and better tax analysis systems adopted by officials of the excise & taxation department. With the latest amendments in GST Rules, the process of obtaining registration under GST improved, making it easier for low-risk and small businesses to obtain registration, while still ensuring that fake and fraudulent applicants were not allowed to operate. The commissioner said this trend was also visible in state excise & VAT/CST collections for the financial year 2025-26, and the department would achieve its annual targets.
