Hry pensioners to rally for OPS

Chandigarh: Haryana’s Pension Bachao Sangharsh Samiti has planned to launch a cycle rally from June 2 to press for its demand of restoration of the Old Pension Scheme. The rally will begin from Nangal Chaudhary and end in Chandigarh on June 23 when a memorandum will be handed over to the governor. Association’s head Vijender Dhariwal said the Haryana government failed to honour its commitment and had been delaying meetings in this regard as well. He said they will intensify their agitation if the government fails to fulfil their demands.Man held with opium in KarnalKarnal: The district police claimed to have arrested a man for alleged drug peddling and recovered 760-gram opium from his possession. The accused has been identified as Kulwant Singh of Nissing in Karnal. SP Shashank Kumar Sawan said that the accused was arrested by a team of Special Unit Assandh from Nissing on Friday.Man arrested for 13L fraudKarnal: Police arrested a man for allegedly duping his neighbour of Rs 13 lakh on the pretext of getting him a job in railways, an official said on Saturday. The police also claimed to have recovered Rs 27,500 from his possession. The accused has been identified as Dadu Malhotra of Karnal. SP Shashank Kumar Sawan said the accused was was produced in a court, which sent him to judicial custody.
