CHANDIGARH: A room service employee at Shivalikview hotel broke into the newly-opened Rain Forest restaurant there and celebrated Diwali with his friends when senior officials of the hotel were away.
However, even the dark interiors of the restaurant could not hide him and his friends from the eye of closed circuit television cameras.
A source identified the accused as Acharya and said he was not able to join his family for Diwali.
"He called his friends around midnight when most of the remaining staff had left," he added.
"CCTV cameras captured Acharya and his friends carrying liquor bottles and packets of food," stated the source.
Deputy general manager of Shivalikview, Anurag Walia, said, "After receiving complaint from the security officer, we marked an inquiry to the CITCO manager (personnel)."
CITCO chief general manager Tanvi Garg said, "We are still looking into the matter and can't disclose anything more at this point."
