Hooda, Rohtak Congress MLAs skip culmination of Brijendra’s yatra
Rohtak: The 231-day Sadbhav Yatra led by former MP Brijendra Singh, which covered nearly 2,800 km across all 90 assembly constituencies of Haryana, concluded in Rohtak on Saturday in the presence of Haryana Congress president Rao Narender Singh, Rajya Sabha MP Randeep Surjewala and several senior party leaders. However, former chief minister Bhupinder Singh Hooda and the other three Congress MLAs from Rohtak district stayed away from the concluding event. The final leg of the foot march began from Delhi Bypass around 5 pm and passed through various parts of the city before ending at the venue. The procession also passed in front of Hooda's residence at D-Park, but neither local Congress leaders aligned with him nor his supporters joined the yatra.Among those present were former Haryana Congress chief Dharampal Malik, former Union minister Chaudhary Birender Singh, senior Congress leader Kuldeep Sharma and AICC secretary Jitendra Baghel.Launched on October 5, 2025, from Danoda village in Narwana constituency, the yatra traversed all 90 assembly segments over seven-and-a-half months.Addressing the gathering, Brijendra Singh said the yatra helped him understand the concerns of people at the grassroots level, including farmers' distress and unemployment among youth. He accused the BJP of divisive politics and claimed people across Haryana were unhappy with the govt's policies. On Hooda's absence, Brijendra said he had personally invited the former chief minister and that Hooda himself could explain why he did not attend. Referring to reports that Hooda had described the yatra as "not an official Congress programme", Brijendra remarked, "When Rahul Gandhi joined the yatra in Gurugram, what is the logic behind such statements?"He also asserted that Rohtak was not the domain of any one leader and cited his family's roots in the region through his great-grandfather, Chaudhary Chhotu Ram.Surjewala also attacked the BJP govt, alleging that it had divided society on caste lines and weakened the economic condition of farmers, traders and labourers.
