Honeypreet skips dinner, spends sleepless first night in jail
Ambala: Priyanka Taneja alias Honeypreet, the ‘adopted daughter’ of the rape convict Dera Sacha Sauda head Gurmeet Ram Rahim Singh, spent a sleepless night in the Ambala central jail on Friday. She even skipped dinner.
She was sent to the jail by a Panchkula court on Friday after the end of her police remand following her arrest in the sedition case. Her associate Sukhdeep Kaur accompanied her.
Sources said Honeypreet did not have a “sound sleep” on the first night in the jail. Police brought Honeypreet and Sukhdeep amid tight security from Panchkula to Ambala as thousands of dera followers live in the district.
According to information, both inmates were kept in a high-security women cell in the jail separate from other female prisoners. A woman constable has also been deployed to keep a watch on them.
According to sources, soon after Honeypreet was brought to the jail, she started pleading with the authorities to let her meet Gurmeet as she had not met him for a long time.
During her medical checkup, she complained of ill health and higher pulse rate. Honeypreet also complained of migraine and body ache.
After a panel of three doctors from the Ambala civil hospital checked her for more than two hours, her condition was stated as stable. One of the doctors from the panel, Dr Arpita Garg said, “She was completely healthy and her condition was stable. Her pulse rate might have increased due to stress.”
Sources said Honeypreet and Sukhdeep were not talking with anyone except each other. Both were woken up by the jail staff at 6 am on Saturday morning and were sent for a shower. They were given tea and two bread slices for breakfast, said sources.
