Rohtak: Busting a honeytrap gang, the Sonipat police on Wednesday arrested three persons, including two lawyers practising in Sonipat court and woman, who were pressurizing another lawyer to settle a sexual harassment case.The accused have been identified as advocates Vijay Indora and Manoj Dahiya and a woman of a village in Sonipat district.
As per details, the accused woman had targeted advocate Pradeep, who also practices in Sonipat, had contacted her to fight her rape case in April this year, but later settled the matter out of court after accepting money from the other party.
When advocate Pradeep asked her for his case fees, she refused and reportedly got a rape and blackmailing case registered against him at Sonipat city police station. Indora and Dahiya were complicit with her in getting the false case of rape against Pradeep, and they intervened to get the matter settled for Rs. 8 lakh.
Meanwhile, Pradeep took the matter to Sonipat police commissioner Satheesh Balan and produced the mobile recording of the accused demanding money to settle the false case against him. He also said Indora and Dahiya had pointed gun at him in court premises to threaten him to not approach police in this case. A SIT headed by ACP Gorakhpal Rana was constituted to investigate the matter.
The ACP revealed that during investigation, it came to light that there was a gang, including Indora, Dahiya, and a woman, that extorted money from people by filing false cases of criminal activities against them. The investigation further revealed that the gang had filed around 12-15 false cases of this nature in Sonipat. ACP Gorakhpal Rana said the police were conducting an investigation into the matter.
