Himachal gets first automated driving test track in Una
Shimla: Himachal Pradesh deputy chief minister Mukesh Agnihotri on Wednesday inaugurated the state's first automated driving test track and traffic park at Roda in Haroli, Una district.Built at a cost of around Rs 9 crore, Agnihotri said, the new sensor-based track, equipped with advanced cameras, will ensure accurate and impartial assessment of candidates while reducing human intervention. Every movement during the test will be digitally monitored, making the system more reliable and efficient. The facility also aims at improving the process of issuing driving licences.Describing it as the only automated testing facility of its kind in North India, he added that further upgrades would be made in phases. Plans include building a waiting area and adding facilities to improve public convenience, along with future testing provisions for heavy vehicles like buses and trucks.Although the conventional method will continue temporarily, the candidates will be able to schedule their test slots online under the new system. The track includes ‘S', ‘8', and ‘H' driving patterns, parallel parking, junction navigation, and incline handling tests. The complex will also serve as a road safety education hub for students. Besides this, Agnihotri announced Rs 10 crore to develop Haroli Ground into a permanent fair venue. MSID:: 130440350 413 |
