Shimla: Himachal Pradesh govt has decided to grant full salary to employees pursuing higher education on study leave during service.
Earlier, employees on study leave received only 40% of their basic pay along with DA and HRA. The govt has now amended Rule 56 of the CCS (Leave) Rules, 1972, allowing them to draw full salary during the study period.
Chief Minister Sukhvinder Singh Sukhu said the enhanced benefit would motivate employees to pursue advanced education and acquire specialised skills, ultimately improving the quality of public services and strengthening the overall functioning of govt departments.
To avail the benefit, employees will be required to submit an undertaking stating that they are not receiving any scholarship, stipend or remuneration from part-time employment during the study period. The govt had earlier restored full salary during study leave for allopathy doctors pursuing higher and specialised courses.
