HC’s dues verdict exposes Mann govt: Majithia
Chandigarh: Senior Shiromani Akali Dal (SAD) functionary Bikram Singh Majithia on Tuesday welcomed the Punjab and Haryana high court directions to Punjab govt to release pending dearness allowance (DA) dues to employees and pensioners, calling it a rightful entitlement that should have been granted without forcing employees to seek legal recourse."The verdict has exposed the evasive approach of the Bhagwant Mann govt," Manjithis said, adding, "Despite clear obligations, employees and pensioners were made to wait for years for their dues. This is not generosity by the govt, this is the rightful money of employees which was withheld." In a written statement, Majithia stated, "Thousands of crores remain pending while the govt continues to spend heavily on publicity and image-building exercises." He further alleged that instead of implementing the order, the Punjab govt is planning to move the Supreme Court against the ruling, indicating yet another attempt to delay the release of dues. Referring to an April 7 notification by the Punjab govt to reconstitute the cabinet sub-committee regarding the issues of pay commission arrears of the employees/pensioners of Punjab govt, Majithia in a post on X earlier in the day stated, "Instead of clearing long-pending arrears, the@PbGovtIndia has formed another committee."
