CHANDIGARH: The Punjab and Haryana high court on Tuesday extended an interim stay on the arrest of Delhi BJP leader

Tajinder Pal Singh Bagga

till July 5 in connection with a case registered against him for his comments against Delhi CM Arvind Kejriwal.

However, the HC has made it clear that Punjab Police may interrogate him in Delhi, if required in this case.

Justice Anoop Chitkara of the HC has passed these orders while hearing the matter related to Bagga.

The HC is hearing a bunch of petitions, including Bagga’s petition to quash the FIR and Punjab government’s habeas corpus plea against alleged illegal detention of Punjab cops by Haryana and Delhi Police.

Earlier on Saturday, a Mohali court had issued non-bailable warrants against Bagga.

However on Saturday late night, the HC directed the Punjab police not to take any coercive action against the Bagga.

The orders were passed by the HC on Saturday night after hearing Bagga’s plea that the FIR against him is a clear abuse of process of law as the same has been registered at an alien jurisdiction (Mohali) whereas the alleged incident took place at Delhi and is based on an edited and manipulated statement allegedly given by him.
