HC: Ensure ‘equitable resolution’ of licence fee

CHANDIGARH: The Punjab and

Haryana HC

has directed the additional solicitor general of India to ensure that an “equitable resolution” is found towards waiver of

licence fee

of

chemist shops

at PGI.

The directions came while hearing a bunch of petitions of three chemists and a person running cafeteria at PGI, who had moved the HC seeking waiver of monthly licence fee running into crores citing the lockdown.

Ordering for maintenance of the status quo on payment of monthly fee, the court fixed July 27 as the next date of hearing. Vinod Kumar Arora, who has a licence of chemist shop at Emergency Ward, and Navjeet Singh, whose shop is near Advanced Trauma Centre, had stated that they were issued show-cause notices by the PGI over non-payment of licence fee for March.
