Before approaching the High Court, power engineers of the state had organized over three-month log agitation against government's decision, citing that extension given to him is "violation" of the Tripartite Agreement, which was signed between employees, Punjab government and management of erstwhile of Punjab State Electricity Board (PSEB) before board's unbundling in 2008.
Dismissing the petition filed by retired engineer Gurnek Singh Brar, Justice K Kannan observed that government's decision of extending tenure of PSPCL CMD was appropriate. The decision on the petition was given on October 9.
